Thamani cup from Kenya
Thamani cup from Kenya
- Available from the end of January 2025
(!) IMPORTANT NOTE
Wow - you guys are really incredible!
Unfortunately, we no longer have any cups in stock, but we are already planning to send the next delivery of cups from Kenya to Germany earlier so that we can send to you again from the end of January.
Just keep ordering your cups, and we will send you our beautiful THAMANI flyer by post as a little "forerunner". You can also creatively wrap this for Christmas, for example, and point out that the real gift will arrive a little later. Anticipation is known to be the greatest joy 😊
Thank you for your understanding and patience!
Your THAMANI TEAM
Additional information about the THAMANI cup:
Each cup is a handmade unique piece from Kenya! The cup in the picture is an example of the shape and size. The child's painting is also as individual as the child itself. The cup will reach you in an attractive surprise box and contains a photo and a handwritten letter from the child.
Now we want to share 5 more things with you that you should know about this special mug:
- The cup paid for the little painting talent's school fees for a month
- The creative painting of the cups is integrated into the art lessons of the partner schools. The children are not given a time limit for painting; they are allowed to be creative and are usually finished after an hour at the latest. Each child paints an average of one cup per month.
- The children's participation in Thamani is voluntary. For most children (usually those who previously lived alone on the streets in the slums and were then taken in by our partner schools), it is the first time they have painted with colours. They simply could not afford it before. This is why painting gives the children particular joy and is also very valuable from an educational point of view.
- The red-brown clay used for pottery comes from Kenyan soil
- The cup has gone through a complex production process of moulding, glazing (individual gradients through manual application) and 3 different firing processes (about 7 days spent in the oven)
- The cup would like to be washed by hand - this way the colors stay beautiful for the longest time
- The cup doesn't particularly like the dishwasher, but it's fine up to 50 °C. However, more than 50 °C should be the exception, as the colors can then rub off over time.
Cup dimensions (varying due to elaborate manual production, but within the following ranges):
Cup opening diameter: 9 cm - 10.5 cm
Height of the cup: 6 cm - 7 cm
